NPI Contingency Status Survey Data and Free Summary Released

Some Medicare providers have had payments put on indefinite hold, thanks to the implicit complexities of implementing the National Provider Identifier, plus some additional hindrances caused by actions of CMS. Animation for HISsie Awards at HIMSS
Healthcare IT Transition Group participated at HIMSS08 in an unusual way. Our media studio produced a seven-minute animated cartoon to introduce the 2008 HISsie Awards. Starring cartoon caricatures of athenahealth's Jonathan Bush and Cerner's Neal Patterson, not to mention HIStalk's Inga and Mr. HIStalk, the cartoon's premiere at HIMSS08 on Monday night was "boffo," says Mr. H. 2007 U.S. RHIO Finance Data Released
Findings from the 2007 Survey of Regional Health Information Finance have been published. The 79-page report, titled Sustainable RHIO Funding and the Emerging Business Model, chides some in the industry whose commercial expectations for RHIO have complicated development of the health information exchange business space. The report also offers a look at RHIO technology purchase decisions and offers guarded estimate of the U.S. RHIO technology market by category.
